Top Ten Ways To Make Passive CPA Income

toptenOver the last decade, my company has spent millions of dollars on paid advertising to send traffic to CPA offers.

Below is a list of ways that we made free passive income from CPA offers without having to spend any money.

1. Display Banners

At one point we had dozens of sites built in a variety of different niches that we were operating in. We used a free banner script downloaded from OpenX.com to rotate different size banners on these web sites.

Some of these web sites were solely created to please Google Adwords.  Although we never drove any paid traffic to the main page of the web sites, they did end up get free SEO traffic (it is amazing what can happen when you try to please Adwords).

We monetized this free traffic by rotating 728×90, 300×250 and 160×600 banners provided by the CPA network for different offers.

2. Thank You Page

I am a big proponent of creating big email lists and I believe the fastest way to do it is to buy traffic.

But this can get expensive quickly and if you don’t have a good one-time offer to help pay for these front-end costs, you might give up sooner then you should.

We use CPA offers to help pay for these paid costs by placing CPA offers on the confirmation page right after the prospect gives their email address.

If you place a banner for a very targeted CPA offer, this works extremely well.

3. Forum Signature Footers

There are literally thousands of different forums online on almost every conceivable topic.

Most forums allow you to create a forum signature with your own information and outgoing links.

Some of these outgoing links can easily be a link to a related CPA offer. For example, if you were posting in a gardening forum, you could link out to a good quality gardening CPA offer.

4. Email Footers

In my many years of creating email lists in dozens of markets, I always took advantage of using the postscript section of each email to do a promotion.

If we found a CPA offer that fit the topic of the email list, we didn’t hesitate to place a promo for it in a P.S. of one of the autoresponder messages.

5. Squidoo Lenses

I used to have my staff create Squidoo lenses on certain niches so that I could show good quality outgoing links on web sites created to please Google Adwords (…man the things we had to do for Adwords).

These Squidoo lenses ended up getting ranked quite high in Bing and Yahoo and received a lot of free traffic.

We used to place outgoing links on these Squidoo lenses to related CPA offers.

6. Domain Names

This is not quite a free method, but you can register a domain on some domain registrars for as little as $0.99.

We still occasionally register misspellings of popular domain names and redirect the traffic to a related CPA offer.

Once you register the domain and redirect it through a good converting CPA offer link, this truly is passive income.

7. Online Classified Ads

There are hundreds of reputable online classified sites. You can easily post CPA offers on a lot of these sites in a related category.

I would speak with your affiliate manager first if this is allowed because most CPA networks will not allow you to post CPA offers on big classified sites like Craigslist or Kijiji.

Unfortunately a lot of affiliates abused places like Craigslist with misleading ads for CPA offers and that is why a lot of CPA network don’t allow this type of promotion anymore.

8. SlideShare.net

Do you have an old popular blog post or article sitting around?

Turn it into a powerpoint presentation and upload it to SlideShare.net.

Make sure you include a link out to a related CPA offer at the beginning or end of your powerpoint presentation. 😉

9. Blog Comments

There are many blogs online that get thousands of visitors per day.

You can easily find a blog on any topic and start commenting on the blog posts.

I highly recommend that your comments add value to the discussion and if you do that, placing a related CPA offer link will not seem so obtrusive.

10. YouTube

YouTube is the second largest search engine online and a highly ranked video can get you a lot of traffic.

I know a lot of affiliates who made a lot of money posting popular videos that ended up going viral.

By including a link to a CPA offer at the beginning of the video description and in the video itself, a lot of these affiliates crushed it.

That is my top ten list of passive CPA promotions.

What other methods can you think of to get free passive income from CPA offers?

CPA Marketing In 2013

Earlier today I recorded a webinar for hundreds of attendees who wanted to know how to get started and profitable with CPA marketing in 2013.  I actually started two live campaigns on the webinar and within 30 minutes of the webinar ending I started to get clicks and conversions on one of the offers. See the screen shot below:

fubar

This campaign was set up with 7search traffic with an average bid of $0.05 CPC and it is already getting a $0.13 EPC meaning that I am making an $0.08 profit on every single click.  I have already added more traffic sources to this campaign and hope to hit 100 leads before the end of the day for this campaign.  This just goes to show that nothing happens until you take action and make things happen.

Watch the webinar below by clicking on the video.

If you enjoyed the webinar, please retweet or Like this blog post. If you have any questions about CPA marketing, feel free to leave it in the comments section below and I will answer it.  You can order CPA Quantum at by clicking here.

Making Money Sending Traffic To A Co-Registration Path

About a year ago I got involved with sending traffic to companies who have built co-registration paths that automatically optimize the advertisements shown to the audience.  For example, if you have job traffic, some of these companies have a job co-reg path that displays job related offers that convert best based on your audience.  Some of these companies will even go the extra step and build an entire co-reg path based on the type of audience that you have.

I know of some affiliates who were doing as much as $5,000-$10,000 a day sending traffic to a co-reg path.  Basically it work as a revenue share between you and the co-reg network.

Below is a full presentation on co-registration that was given at my Traffic-Leads-Conversions seminar last year, which explains this opportunity.  I have also included Powepoint slides of the entire presentation. Enjoy and I look forward to your comments.

CPA Slice And Dice

Last November, I held an event in Toronto and one of the speakers was Jonathan van Clute who talked on the topic of “Coding for Marketers.” He touched upon beginner and advanced coding strategies and he also talked about black hat coding strategies. Below is a small portion of his presentation where he talks about slicing and dicing a CPA offer and placing it on your own landing page. Although he doesn’t provide the exact code on how to do this, I am pretty sure you can find it if you search hard on the Internet or look for it in the forums. Some CPA advertisers will allow you to do this while others may not, so use at your own discretion. Please give the video some time to load as it is a large file. (If you can’t see a video screen at all below, you may need to deactivate your anti-virus software that may be blocking it.)

A CPA Network’s Dirty Little Secret

CPA networks make a lot more money than you think.  They make a lot more money than they would like affiliates to also think.

I didn’t realize this until I starting digging deeper with my affiliate managers when running campaigns years ago.

I once had an affiliate manager want me to run a campaign so bad that he offered to upload “overages” to my affiliate account ever night.

Huh? Overages?

I asked him what “overages” were and he told me that it was all the extra leads that the affiliate CPA network misses when the pixel doesn’t fire correctly on the thank you page.

I asked him how many leads that would be and he told me around the 8%-15% range.

I was like… “What?!”

The network statistics miss anywhere from 8%-15% of all the leads that are being registered for CPA offers?

Here is the sad reality.

No matter what, a pixel will never fire 100% correctly.  There are a number of reasons why this may occur and it would take too long to describe it in this blog post.

I am just warning you that you will NEVER get paid for the 100% of the leads you really generate for a network.

I have verified that the “overages” are in fact a sad reality of life as a CPA marketer by having my own Direct Track platform.

Direct Track powers almost 80% of all the CPA networks online today.  I have my own Direct Track platform so that I can work directly with a number of advertisers instead of having to go through a CPA network.

In every single case, with every single advertiser, the lead count in Direct Track was always less than the lead count recorded in the advertisers tracking stats.

Their stats are the most accurate because it can only count leads when an actual lead is created.  CPA network software programs don’t count when leads are created, they count when a pixel is fired.  There is a huge difference between the two.

On average, my advertisers report 10% more leads than I see on my Direct Track platform.  And this is not limited to Direct Track as I have seen this across a number of other CPA networks who don’t even use Direct Track.

Just to give you an example of the impact that this may have on any CPA campaign you are running, here is an example with numbers.

300 leads x $3 payout = $900 affiliate commissions

If you paid $500 in traffic to generate the $900 in CPA commissions, than you have a gross margin of around 44%.

But if the network missed 15% of your leads, this means you really had generated 345 leads.

345 leads x $3 payout = $1035

Your real gross margin is around 52% and your pure profit jumps over 25%.

If you are ever doing a ridiculous amount of volume with a CPA network, it almost makes sense to buy your own tracking platform and work directly with the advertiser so that you are ensured all the commissions and overages from your efforts.

Some CPA networks are nice enough to spread out overages at the end of the month to their affiliates who were running that campaign. But in most cases, they keep these extra profits for themselves.

This is a CPA network’s dirty little secret.

Feel free to leave your comments with your thoughts.
